Responsibilities
- Monitor Frequencies: Continuously monitor police radio frequencies to detect emergencies and dispatch appropriate units to the scene.
- Emergency Response: Process emergency 911 calls, gathering critical information to assist responding officers and prioritize calls based on severity.
- System Management: Accurately enter and update incident details into the Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) system in real-time.
- Inter-Agency Coordination: Communicate and coordinate with Fire, EMS, and other external agencies during large-scale incidents.
- Record Keeping: Maintain precise logs of all dispatch activities, unit locations, and incident statuses.
- Information Dissemination: Provide routine information and non-emergency assistance to the public over the telephone.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent is required.
- License: A valid Florida Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record is mandatory.
- Typing Speed: Ability to type a minimum of 35-40 words per minute (WPM).
- Citizenship: Must be a U.S. Citizen and pass a comprehensive background investigation, drug screen, and polygraph exam.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills; must be proficient in English.
- Resilience: Ability to remain composed and professional in high-stress, rapidly changing situations.
