Responsibilities
- Receive and Process Calls: Answer 911 and non-emergency lines with professionalism, accurately gathering and relaying information.
- Unit Dispatch: Deploy law enforcement, fire, and emergency medical resources to incidents using Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) systems.
- Field Monitoring: Track the status, location, and activities of field units to optimize response times and officer safety.
- Record Keeping: Maintain detailed, accurate logs of all calls for service and incident reports.
- Crisis Management: Provide critical support to officers in the field and citizens in distress, de-escalating situations when possible.
- Training: Participate in and complete a comprehensive 12-18 week training academy focused on emergency communications protocols.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED is required.
- License: A valid North Carolina Driverβs License with a safe driving record is mandatory.
- Background: Must be able to pass a thorough background investigation, polygraph, and drug screen.
- Skills: Strong typing skills (40+ wpm) and proficiency with computer systems.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Age: Must be at least 18 years of age.
