Responsibilities

  • Receive, evaluate, and prioritize incoming emergency and non-emergency calls for service, dispatching appropriate police units with accurate location and incident details.
  • Monitor and operate multi-channel radio communications to maintain situational awareness and coordinate field operations effectively.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed radio logs and incident reports using computer-aided dispatch (CAD) systems and paper records.
  • Provide critical information to responding officers, including traffic conditions, building layouts, and descriptions of suspects or hazards.
  • Perform administrative duties such as answering non-emergency phone lines, processing paperwork, and assisting with community outreach initiatives.
  • Collaborate with other agencies, including Fire and EMS, to ensure seamless multi-agency responses during major incidents.

Qualifications

  • Must be a United States Citizen, permanent resident, or possess a valid Green Card.
  • Must possess a high school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED).
  • Demonstrated ability to type at least 30-40 words per minute with high accuracy.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to speak clearly and concisely under pressure.
  • Ability to work varying shifts, including nights, weekends, holidays, and rotating schedules.
