Responsibilities
- Receive and process emergency and non-emergency calls via phone and radio, prioritizing incidents based on severity.
- Dispatch law enforcement, fire, and medical personnel to the scene of incidents in a timely and accurate manner.
- Input and update incident information into the Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) system and records management systems.
- Maintain situational awareness of current police activity, traffic conditions, and weather updates to provide accurate status reports.
- Provide vital information to field units, including directions, descriptions of suspects, and other relevant details.
- Perform multi-tasking operations, including typing reports while monitoring radio traffic.
- Assist the public with information requests, routing calls to the appropriate department, and providing general assistance.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Clean criminal record; no felony convictions or serious misdemeanors (background check required).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to type at least 35-40 words per minute accurately.
- Must possess a valid driver's license and maintain a good driving record.
- Ability to work rotating shifts, holidays, nights, weekends, and in emergency situations.
