Responsibilities
- Receive and process emergency (911) and non-emergency calls from the public, gathering critical information and dispatching appropriate law enforcement, fire, and medical units.
- Monitor police radio frequencies and computer-aided dispatch (CAD) systems to track unit status and coordinate responses in real-time.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of calls, incidents, and officer activity using departmental databases.
- Provide information and assistance to citizens regarding department policies, traffic conditions, and community events.
- Operate communications equipment, including radios, telephones, and computer terminals, ensuring clear and effective communication.
- Perform shift work, including nights, weekends, and holidays, to ensure 24/7 public safety coverage.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age and a U.S. Citizen.
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent required; additional college coursework in criminal justice or communications is a plus.
- Valid California Class C Driverβs License and a satisfactory driving record.
- Ability to pass a thorough background investigation, including a polygraph, psychological evaluation, and drug screen.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Basic computer proficiency and typing skills (minimum 35 wpm).
