Responsibilities

  • Receive and process emergency and non-emergency calls via telephone, radio, and computer-aided dispatch (CAD) systems.
  • Dispatch law enforcement, fire, and medical units to locations based on information received, ensuring rapid response times.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed logs of all calls, activities, and unit status for legal and operational purposes.
  • Provide critical information to field personnel regarding traffic conditions, weather updates, and hazards in the area.
  • Monitor security cameras and surveillance equipment to assist in situational awareness and officer safety.
  • Perform clerical duties, such as data entry, record keeping, and report preparation, in support of the communications center.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must possess a valid Florida Class E Driver's License.
  • Ability to pass a comprehensive background investigation, including a polygraph, psychological evaluation, and drug screening.
  • Excellent typing skills (minimum 35 WPM) and proficiency with computer systems.
  • Strong decision-making skills and the ability to remain calm and composed in high-stress situations.
  • Ability to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
