Responsibilities

  • Receive and Process Calls: Answer incoming emergency (911) and non-emergency calls, assessing the situation and determining the appropriate response.
  • Dispatch Units: Coordinate the deployment of police, fire, and emergency medical services to incidents efficiently and accurately.
  • Monitor Communications: Maintain continuous radio and telephone communication with field units, monitoring their status and relaying critical information.
  • Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD): Utilize advanced CAD systems to record incident details, dispatch units, and update status logs in real-time.
  • Caller Assistance: Provide pre-arrival instructions and assistance to callers in distress to ensure their safety until responders arrive.
  • Multi-Agency Coordination: Communicate and coordinate with other public safety agencies and external organizations as needed.

Qualifications

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Experience: Prior experience in customer service, call center operations, or public safety is highly preferred.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to speak clearly and concisely under pressure.
  • Typing: Proficient typing skills (minimum 35-40 WPM) with high accuracy.
  • License: Valid North Carolina Driver's License.
  • Background: No disqualifying criminal record; must pass a thorough background check and medical evaluation.
