Responsibilities
- Monitor Communication Systems: Continuously monitor radio channels, telephone lines, and computer-aided dispatch (CAD) systems to receive and process incoming emergency and non-emergency calls.
- Dispatch Personnel: Accurately dispatch law enforcement, fire, and medical units to incident locations based on call information and geographic knowledge.
- Information Gathering: Gather and relay vital information to first responders, including caller location, nature of emergency, and additional details to ensure safe and efficient response.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and detailed logs of all calls, dispatches, and unit activities in accordance with departmental protocols and records management systems.
- Caller Support: Provide essential instructions and assistance to callers in distress, maintaining composure to de-escalate situations until help arrives.
- System Maintenance: Perform routine checks on communication equipment and software to ensure system reliability and readiness.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent is required.
- Experience: Previous experience in customer service, call centers, or emergency services is highly preferred but not mandatory for the Trainee role.
- License: A valid Arizona Driver’s License is required.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to speak clearly and concisely over radio and phone.
- Technology: Basic computer proficiency and the ability to learn new software systems quickly.
- Availability: Ability to work rotating shifts, nights, weekends, and holidays as required by the 24/7 emergency dispatch operations.
