Your Mission
As a Dispatcher Trainee, you will be the first point of contact for citizens in distress. Your ability to remain composed under pressure and communicate effectively will save lives and guide emergency response teams. Responsibilities
- Receive and Process Calls: Answer incoming emergency (911) and non-emergency lines, accurately recording information and dispatching appropriate resources.
- Unit Dispatch: Coordinate the response of police, fire, and medical units to incident locations using Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) systems.
- Information Management: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of calls, incidents, and personnel availability within the department database.
- Radio Communication: Transmit clear, concise instructions via radio to field units, ensuring they have all necessary information for safe and effective operations.
- Community Engagement: Provide general information to the public and assist citizens with inquiries regarding police services.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or GED required; post-secondary education in criminal justice, public safety, or a related field is a plus.
- Experience: No prior experience required; however, customer service or call center experience is highly desirable.
- Skills: Must possess excellent typing skills (minimum 35-40 wpm) and have a working knowledge of computer systems.
- Character: Must be of good moral character with no felony convictions.
- License: Valid Florida driver's license required.
