Responsibilities
- Receive and process emergency 911 calls and non-emergency inquiries with speed and accuracy.
- Dispatch law enforcement, fire, and emergency medical units to incident locations.
- Enter and maintain accurate data in computer-aided dispatch (CAD) systems.
- Provide critical information to responding units and coordinate on-scene resources.
- Monitor radio frequencies and maintain situational awareness during shifts.
- Assist in training new dispatchers and mentoring junior staff during the trainee phase.
- Perform administrative duties such as report filing and record-keeping.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent required; Associate’s degree preferred.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to multi-task in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with computers and ability to learn complex dispatch software quickly.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Willingness to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
