Responsibilities
- Monitor Communications: Receive and process emergency and non-emergency calls from the public and other law enforcement agencies with speed and accuracy.
- Dispatch Operations: Utilize Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) software to send appropriate police, fire, and medical units to the scene of incidents.
- Information Management: Maintain detailed logs and records of all calls, messages, and dispatches to ensure accurate documentation for legal and administrative purposes.
- Unit Coordination: Coordinate the movement of patrol units and special response teams, providing real-time updates and instructions to officers in the field.
- Community Liaison: Provide information and assistance to the public regarding police services, non-emergency procedures, and community events.
- Training Support: Actively participate in all required training modules, including CPR/First Aid certification and emergency communications protocols.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent required; Associate’s degree in a related field (Criminal Justice, Communications) is preferred.
- Licensure: Valid Class C New Mexico Driver’s License required; must be insurable.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to speak clearly over radio systems.
- Technology: Basic computer literacy and the ability to learn complex software systems quickly.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to remain calm under high-pressure situations and sit for extended periods while operating radio equipment.
- Background: Must pass a thorough background investigation, including drug screening and psychological evaluation.
