Responsibilities
- Monitor and dispatch police units via radio and telephone systems during emergency and non-emergency situations.
- Receive and process incoming calls for service, accurately recording detailed information in the Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system.
- Provide critical information to field personnel and coordinate resource allocation to ensure officer safety and efficiency.
- Respond to non-emergency inquiries from the public, providing accurate information and directions.
- Maintain logs, records, and reports in accordance with departmental policies and regulations.
- Collaborate with other dispatchers and supervisory staff to ensure seamless communication during shift changes and high-volume periods.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Valid Driver's License issued by the State of Maryland required.
- Ability to type at least 35-40 words per minute with high accuracy.
- Strong computer proficiency and familiarity with MS Office applications.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays (Flexibility is key).
