As a Trainee, you will work alongside experienced dispatchers, learning the ropes of the 911 system, call prioritization, and radio communication. This is an excellent opportunity to start a stable, rewarding career in public safety.
Responsibilities
- Answer and process incoming emergency (911) and non-emergency calls with accuracy and empathy.
- Dispatch police, fire, and medical units to incident scenes using standard radio protocols.
- Accurately record incident details, unit responses, and status updates into the CAD (Computer-Aided Dispatch) system.
- Maintain a calm and professional demeanor during high-stress situations.
- Monitor and update status of active units and emergency resources in the field.
- Provide information to the public and assist with non-emergency inquiries.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Ability to pass a thorough background investigation and drug screening.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Must be able to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Strong multi-tasking abilities and ability to work under pressure.
- Basic computer proficiency is a plus.
