Responsibilities
- Monitor and respond to emergency and non-emergency radio frequencies and phone lines.
- Utilize Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) systems to input data and assign resources.
- Extract critical information from callers to determine the nature and location of incidents.
- Dispatch law enforcement, fire, and medical units efficiently and accurately.
- Maintain accurate logs and records of all calls and dispatch events.
- Coordinate with other agencies and field units to ensure seamless communication.
- Assist in training new dispatch staff and maintaining departmental equipment.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED is required.
- Must possess a valid Florida Driver's License.
- Proficient typing speed (minimum 35 words per minute).
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work rotating shifts, holidays, and weekends as needed.
- Basic computer literacy and data entry experience.
