Responsibilities
- Answer emergency (911) and non-emergency calls efficiently and accurately.
- Dispatch law enforcement, fire, and emergency medical services to the appropriate locations.
- Maintain precise records and logs of all incoming and outgoing communications.
- Enter and update incident information into the Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) system.
- Provide accurate information to the public and other agencies as required.
- Assist in the training and orientation of new dispatch personnel.
- Monitor city surveillance systems and CCTV feeds for suspicious activity.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Valid Virginia driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
- Proficiency in computer usage and data entry.
- Ability to type at least 35-40 words per minute.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to remain calm and make quick decisions under stressful conditions.
- U.S. Citizenship and no disqualifying criminal history.
