Responsibilities
- Receive and prioritize incoming emergency (911) and non-emergency calls, utilizing active listening and de-escalation techniques.
- Dispatch law enforcement, fire, and medical units to the correct location using Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) systems with extreme accuracy.
- Maintain precise records of all incidents, calls, and resources deployed in the department's database.
- Monitor multiple radio frequencies and surveillance equipment simultaneously to maintain situational awareness.
- Provide vital pre-arrival instructions to callers in distress to ensure their safety until help arrives.
- Collaborate with patrol deputies and support personnel to ensure seamless communication during active operations.
- Participate in mandatory training to learn emergency protocols, radio codes, and departmental policies.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age and possess a valid Nevada Driver's License.
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required.
- Ability to pass a comprehensive background investigation, including a polygraph examination and drug screen.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a focus on clarity and grammar.
- Must be able to type at least 35-40 words per minute.
- Ability to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Strong ability to remain calm and composed in high-stress, emergency situations.
