Responsibilities
- Receive and Process Calls: Answer emergency and non-emergency calls with high emotional intelligence, maintaining a calm and professional demeanor under pressure.
- Dispatch Units: Utilize radio and CAD systems to dispatch law enforcement, fire, and EMS units to incident locations efficiently.
- Accurate Data Entry: Input and update incident details into computer-aided dispatch software rapidly and error-free.
- Monitor Traffic: Continuously monitor multiple radio frequencies and maintain a detailed log of all calls for service.
- Caller Assistance: Provide pre-arrival instructions and vital safety information to callers until responders arrive on scene.
- Trainee Duties: Assist senior dispatchers with call handling and shadowing duties as part of the structured training program.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or GED required.
- Age: Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a clear, professional speaking voice.
- Typing: Ability to type at least 40-50 words per minute.
- License: Valid driver's license in the state of Indiana.
- Background: Must pass a comprehensive background investigation, drug screen, and medical exam.
