Responsibilities
- Receive, prioritize, and process incoming emergency (911) and non-emergency calls from the public.
- Dispatch law enforcement, fire, and emergency medical service units to incidents with speed and accuracy.
- Utilize Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) systems to maintain accurate logs, status updates, and incident reports.
- Communicate clear, concise instructions to field units via radio and telephone.
- Monitor CCTV and alarm systems to detect suspicious activity and alert appropriate personnel.
- Provide information and assistance to the public regarding police services and general inquiries.
- Assist in training junior dispatchers and mentoring new recruits.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED is required.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to multi-task effectively in a fast-paced, high-stress environment.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Willingness to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
