Responsibilities
- Process emergency and non-emergency calls with empathy and efficiency
- Dispatch police units and maintain radio communications
- Operate Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) and mapping systems
- Document call details accurately in incident reports
- Coordinate with other emergency agencies during critical incidents
- Provide pre-arrival instructions to callers when appropriate
- Multi-task during high-pressure situations while maintaining composure
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Must pass criminal background check and drug screening
- Typing speed of 40+ WPM (tested during application)
- Ability to work rotating shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Strong communication and active listening skills
- U.S. citizenship and valid New Mexico driver's license
- Ability to remain calm under extreme pressure
- No felony convictions (misdemeanors evaluated case-by-case)
