Responsibilities

  • Receive and prioritize emergency (911) and non-emergency calls from the public.

  • Accurately record incident details, dispatch instructions, and unit status in the CAD system.
  • Provide pre-arrival instructions to callers to ensure their safety until responders arrive.
  • Maintain accurate logs of all communications and events.
  • Coordinate inter-agency responses and support field units as needed.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) required.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Excellent typing skills with the ability to type at least 30-40 words per minute.
  • Strong computer literacy and ability to learn new software quickly.
  • Ability to remain calm, clear, and concise under high-pressure situations.
  • Valid North Carolina driver’s license with a good driving record.
  • Must pass a background investigation and drug screening.
