As a Trainee, you will undergo rigorous training to master the 911 system, radio communication protocols, and emergency management procedures. If you have excellent communication skills, calmness under pressure, and a desire to make a difference, we want to hear from you.
Responsibilities
- Receive and prioritize incoming emergency and non-emergency calls from the public.
- Dispatch law enforcement, fire, and medical units to incidents using two-way radios.
- Maintain accurate and detailed incident logs in the CAD (Computer-Aided Dispatch) system.
- Provide critical information and support to responding officers and citizens.
- Monitor radio traffic and maintain situational awareness during high-stress events.
- Assist in training new dispatch personnel once qualified.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Valid Missouri Driver’s License with a clean driving record.
- U.S. Citizenship or permanent residency status.
- No felony convictions; must pass a comprehensive background investigation and drug screen.
- Excellent typing skills (minimum 35-40 wpm) and strong verbal communication abilities.
- Ability to remain calm and make quick decisions in high-pressure situations.
