Responsibilities
- Receive and Process Calls: Answer emergency and non-emergency calls, gather critical information, and prioritize incidents based on severity.
- Dispatch Units: Rapidly and accurately dispatch law enforcement, fire rescue, and EMS units to the scene using computer-aided dispatch (CAD) systems.
- Record Maintenance: Enter and update accurate incident reports, warrants, and field status information into department databases.
- Resource Coordination: Coordinate with other agencies, hospitals, and support services to ensure a seamless response to incidents.
- Information Dissemination: Provide the public with essential information regarding police services, non-emergency contact numbers, and safety tips.
- Crisis Support: Remain composed under pressure and provide instructions to callers during critical incidents to ensure their safety.
Qualifications
- Age Requirement: Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Education: High school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) required.
- Citizenship: U.S. Citizenship is required.
- Background: No felony convictions, domestic violence adjudications, or pending legal issues.
- Skills: Excellent typing speed and accuracy (minimum 35-40 WPM preferred) and strong data entry skills.
- Communication: Ability to speak clearly and concisely over radio and telephone, and listen actively to caller needs.
- License: Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
