Responsibilities
- Receive and Process Calls: Answer incoming emergency and non-emergency calls efficiently, accurately, and calmly using CAD (Computer-Aided Dispatch) systems.
- Dispatch Units: Coordinate the deployment of police, fire, and EMS units to incidents in real-time, providing critical information to responding officers.
- Maintain Logs: Document all calls, dispatches, and incidents in detail to ensure accurate records for legal and administrative purposes.
- Emergency Communication: Provide pre-arrival instructions to callers to ensure their safety until help arrives.
- Monitor Systems: Keep a constant watch on radar, camera, and alarm systems to identify and respond to potential threats or disturbances.
- Interagency Collaboration: Communicate effectively with other agencies and jurisdictions as required.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree preferred.
- Experience: Prior experience in customer service, call centers, or emergency services is a plus but not mandatory for this trainee position.
- Skills: Exceptional listening skills and the ability to remain calm under extreme pressure.
- Technical: Basic computer proficiency and the ability to learn new software quickly.
- Requirements: Must be a U.S. citizen and pass a comprehensive background check and drug screen.
- Availability: Must be available to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
