Responsibilities
- Receive and Process Calls: Answer emergency (911) and non-emergency calls efficiently and accurately, gathering critical information from callers.
- Dispatch Units: Utilize computer-aided dispatch (CAD) systems to send police, fire, and EMS units to the scene, providing them with essential details.
- Maintain Logs: Accurately document all calls, dispatches, and officer activities in the departmental logbook or electronic records system.
- Monitor Communications: Actively monitor police radio frequencies and CCTV systems to identify potential issues and coordinate responses.
- Support Operations: Provide general information and assistance to the public and other city departments as required.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) required.
- Licensure: Valid Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to type at least 35-40 words per minute.
- Character: Must possess the ability to maintain composure in high-stress, high-volume environments.
- Background: No felony convictions or serious misdemeanors.
