Responsibilities
- Sort and Process Mail: Efficiently sort incoming and outgoing mail by size, class, and route to ensure timely delivery.
- Deliver Packages: Transport and deliver parcels and letters to residential and business addresses on assigned routes.
- Customer Service: Interact professionally with customers, answer inquiries, and resolve delivery issues courteously.
- Vehicle Operation: Safely operate a USPS vehicle (motor vehicle or bicycle) following all traffic laws and safety protocols.
- Route Management: Manage time effectively to complete the assigned route within the workday, including physical labor and walking.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to all USPS safety policies, including proper lifting techniques and equipment usage.
Qualifications
- Eligibility: Must be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident and at least 18 years of age.
- Driver's License: Valid state driver's license (for Curbside Carrier positions) or valid state identification (for City Carrier Associate positions).
- Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift up to 70 lbs, stand/walk for long periods, and work in all weather conditions.
- Background Check: Must pass a criminal background check, drug screening, and motor vehicle record check.
- Education: High School Diploma or GED is preferred.
- Communication: Strong verbal communication skills and the ability to read maps and addresses accurately.
