Responsibilities
- Analyze complex urban policy issues and draft evidence-based recommendations for city leadership
- Conduct quantitative/qualitative research using statistical software and GIS mapping tools
- Collaborate with 15+ city departments on cross-functional policy implementation projects
- Present findings to elected officials and community stakeholders through executive briefings
- Monitor state/federal legislation affecting municipal operations and regulatory compliance
- Develop public engagement strategies for inclusive policy development processes
- Manage policy impact assessments using cost-benefit analysis frameworks
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Public Policy, Urban Planning, or related field (Bachelor's with 5+ years experience considered)
- 3+ years government/public sector policy analysis experience
- Advanced proficiency in statistical analysis (SPSS/R) and data visualization tools
- Proven experience drafting municipal policy reports and legislative recommendations
- Virginia state residency required within 90 days of hire
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel to city facilities
- Clear background check and ability to obtain security clearance
