Responsibilities
- Conduct daily field inspections of municipal construction projects for compliance with safety regulations and engineering specifications
- Review and approve contractor submittals, plans, and materials for compliance with city codes
- Document inspection findings through detailed reports and photographic evidence
- Coordinate with engineering teams, contractors, and regulatory agencies to resolve compliance issues
- Monitor project progress against timelines and budget constraints
- Prepare and maintain accurate inspection records and project documentation
- Investigate citizen complaints related to construction activities and public infrastructure
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of experience in construction inspection or civil engineering
- Valid Massachusetts Inspector Certification or ability to obtain within 6 months
- Proficiency with CAD software and inspection reporting tools
- Strong knowledge of Massachusetts Building Code and OSHA standards
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work in outdoor environments with varying weather conditions
- Valid Massachusetts driver's license with clean record
- U.S. citizenship or permanent residency required for government position
