Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain heavy machinery (e.g., street sweepers, dump trucks, snow removal equipment)
- Perform grounds maintenance for parks, public buildings, and streetscapes
- Assist in infrastructure repairs including sidewalks, curbs, and drainage systems
- Ensure compliance with OSHA safety standards and city protocols
- Respond to emergency weather events (snow, flooding) as part of the city's emergency response team
- Complete daily equipment inspections and maintenance reports
- Collaborate with cross-departmental teams on municipal improvement projects
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required
- Valid Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) preferred
- Minimum 1 year experience in construction, landscaping, or public works
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and perform physically demanding tasks
- OSHA 10-hour construction certification preferred
- Basic knowledge of hand/power tools and small equipment repair
- Must pass pre-employment physical and background check
- Residency within Baltimore City required within 6 months of hire
