Responsibilities
- Perform manual labor tasks including excavation, paving, and drainage system maintenance
- Operate heavy equipment safely (backhoes, dump trucks, graders) with proper certification
- Assist in road repair, sidewalk installation, and park facility upkeep
- Conduct routine inspections of public works infrastructure
- Maintain job site cleanliness and adhere to OSHA safety protocols
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on large-scale municipal projects
- Document daily progress and material usage accurately
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Valid North Carolina Commercial Driver's License (Class B) preferred
- OSHA 10-hour construction certification mandatory
- Minimum 2 years experience in public works or heavy construction
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and work in extreme weather conditions
- Basic proficiency with hand/power tools and survey equipment
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
