Responsibilities
- Perform heavy physical labor including excavation, paving, and concrete work
- Operate light machinery (compactors, graders, jackhammers) with proper safety protocols
- Assist in road maintenance, drainage system repairs, and park facility upkeep
- Collaborate with crews on stormwater management and erosion control projects
- Ensure compliance with OSHA standards and city safety regulations
- Document work progress and maintain equipment maintenance logs
- Respond to emergency public works situations as needed
Qualifications
- Valid Arizona driver's license with clean driving record
- Minimum 1 year construction/public works labor experience
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and perform strenuous physical tasks
- OSHA 10-hour certification or willingness to obtain within 30 days
- Basic knowledge of hand/power tools and construction materials
- Ability to work in extreme weather conditions (heat, rain)
- Pass pre-employment background check and drug screening
- High school diploma or equivalent required
