As a Public Works Laborer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring our city remains beautiful and functional for everyone. We offer a supportive work environment and the opportunity to work on diverse projects across the city.
Responsibilities
- Operate Heavy Equipment: Safely operate and maintain light and heavy equipment, including dump trucks, front-end loaders, and paving machines.
- General Labor: Perform manual labor tasks such as digging, grading, asphalt paving, and concrete work.
- Snow and Ice Removal: Assist in the removal of snow and ice from streets, sidewalks, and public facilities during winter months.
- Parks and Facilities Maintenance: Help maintain the cleanliness and safety of public parks, street right-of-ways, and drainage systems.
- Safety Compliance: Strictly adhere to all OSHA safety regulations, site safety plans, and departmental policies.
- Equipment Care: Clean, inspect, and perform minor maintenance on tools and machinery to ensure optimal performance.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required.
- Experience: Previous experience in construction, landscaping, or municipal public works is highly preferred.
- License: Valid Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) is preferred but not required for entry-level; must possess a valid Florida Driver’s License.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and carry objects over 50 lbs frequently; ability to stand, walk, and work in various weather conditions for extended periods.
- Skills: Basic knowledge of construction tools and equipment; ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
