Responsibilities
- Perform general labor duties including excavation, grading, and paving of city streets and sidewalks.
- Operate and maintain heavy machinery and construction equipment, such as backhoes, rollers, and dump trucks.
- Assist in snow removal and ice control operations during winter weather events.
- Perform routine maintenance on public parks, drainage systems, and water/sewer infrastructure.
- Ensure strict adherence to all safety regulations, OSHA standards, and departmental policies.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and the public while performing duties.
Qualifications
- Valid North Carolina Driver’s License required (Class C).
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Ability to lift and carry heavy objects (50+ lbs) repeatedly over the course of a shift.
- Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold.
- Basic knowledge of construction tools, safety practices, and equipment operation is preferred.
- Must pass a post-offer medical examination, including drug screening.
