Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
- Perform general labor tasks including sweeping, cleaning, and maintaining public right-of-ways, parks, and drainage ditches.
- Operate and maintain light to heavy construction equipment such as backhoes, graders, and dump trucks (certification preferred).
- Assist in traffic control, flagging, and setting up work zones in compliance with OSHA and DOT regulations.
- Load and unload construction materials, tools, and supplies from trucks and storage areas.
- Perform basic repairs on street signs, guardrails, and concrete curbing as needed.
- Assist skilled tradesmen with various projects including asphalt paving, utility relocation, and storm drainage installation.
Qualifications
Qualifications & Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
- Valid Class C Texas Driverβs License with a good driving record required.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs repeatedly and stand/walk for extended periods in various weather conditions.
- Basic knowledge of construction safety protocols and OSHA standards.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including early mornings, nights, and weekends as required by department needs.
- No prior experience required; on-the-job training provided for qualified candidates.
