In this role, you will play a crucial part in maintaining and improving the city's vital infrastructure, ensuring our roads, drainage systems, and public spaces remain safe and accessible for all residents.
Responsibilities
- Perform Heavy Construction & Maintenance: Assist in road repairs, pavement marking, drainage cleaning, and general infrastructure upkeep.
- Operate Machinery: Safely operate heavy equipment such as backhoes, rollers, loaders, and dump trucks under supervision.
- Excavation & Grading: Execute precise excavation, trenching, and grading tasks for utility installations and street improvements.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere strictly to OSHA safety regulations and city protocols to maintain a safe worksite for yourself and your team.
- Site Management: Set up traffic control, barricades, and signage to ensure the safety of the public and construction crews.
- Material Handling: Load, unload, and organize construction materials and equipment efficiently.
- General Labor: Perform various manual labor tasks including digging, lifting, and hauling materials as required by project specifications.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED is preferred.
- Experience: Previous experience in public works, construction, landscaping, or general labor is a plus.
- License: Valid Texas Class C Driver’s License required; Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) is a significant plus.
- Physical Demands: Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs frequently, stand for extended periods, and work in various weather conditions (heat, rain, cold).
- Equipment Knowledge: Familiarity with hand and power tools, as well as basic knowledge of heavy machinery operation.
- Reliability: Must be punctual, dependable, and able to work a full-time schedule including weekends or overtime when necessary.
