Responsibilities
- Operate heavy machinery (backhoes, graders, dump trucks) for infrastructure projects
- Perform manual labor including excavation, paving, and sidewalk repairs
- Conduct routine maintenance on city facilities and drainage systems
- Ensure compliance with OSHA safety protocols during all operations
- Assist in emergency snow removal and storm response activities
- Complete daily equipment inspections and maintenance logs
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on public works projects
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Valid Minnesota Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
- Minimum 1 year experience in construction or public works
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and perform physically demanding tasks
- OSHA 10-hour construction certification preferred
- Ability to work in extreme weather conditions (heat, cold, snow)
- Pass pre-employment physical and drug screening
- Basic knowledge of hand/power tools and equipment operation
