Responsibilities
- Infrastructure Maintenance: Perform general labor tasks related to the maintenance, repair, and construction of streets, sidewalks, and drainage systems.
- Equipment Operation: Operate and maintain light to medium-duty construction equipment, including dump trucks, paving equipment, and jackhammers, under supervision.
- Asphalt and Paving: Assist in the placement and compaction of asphalt and concrete, including crack sealing and patching.
- Snow and Ice Removal: Assist in snow removal and ice control operations during adverse weather conditions to ensure public safety.
- Site Cleanup: Maintain job sites by removing debris, trash, and hazardous materials in compliance with safety regulations.
- Material Handling: Load, unload, and distribute construction materials, tools, and supplies as directed by supervisors.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere strictly to all OSHA safety standards and city policies while performing daily tasks.
Qualifications
- Valid Driver’s License: A valid Texas Class C Driver’s License is required; a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) is a plus.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to perform strenuous physical labor including lifting, bending, pushing, and pulling heavy objects frequently throughout the shift.
- Experience: Previous experience in construction, landscaping, or public works is preferred but not mandatory; on-the-job training provided.
- Basic Math Skills: Ability to read basic measurements, blueprints, and job orders.
- Communication: Effective communication skills to interact with supervisors, coworkers, and the public.
- Safety Conscious: Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety and the ability to wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Availability: Willingness to work flexible hours, including overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed.
