As a Public Works Laborer, you will be on the front lines of city maintenance, ensuring our roads, drainage systems, and public spaces remain safe and accessible for everyone.
Responsibilities
- Operate heavy machinery and construction equipment, including backhoes, graders, and rollers, under supervision.
- Perform manual labor tasks such as digging trenches, laying pipe, and installing traffic control devices.
- Maintain streets, alleys, and public right-of-ways by sweeping, pothole repair, and line striping.
- Assist in snow removal and ice control operations during inclement weather.
- Collect and dispose of litter and debris along public roadways and parks.
- Ensure all work is performed in strict compliance with OSHA safety regulations and city policies.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members to coordinate daily tasks efficiently.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
- Valid Arizona Class C Driver's License required; Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is a plus.
- Ability to pass a post-offer physical examination and drug screening.
- Physical stamina to perform heavy manual labor in various weather conditions.
- Basic knowledge of construction tools and safety procedures is highly desirable.
- Willingness to work overtime, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Strong work ethic and ability to work well as part of a team.
