As a Public Works Laborer, you will contribute directly to the safety and quality of life for Albuquerque residents. You will gain hands-on experience working alongside experienced professionals in various maintenance and infrastructure projects.
Responsibilities
- Perform general maintenance and cleanup of streets, alleys, and public rights-of-way.
- Assist with snow removal, ice control, and debris management during winter weather.
- Operate and assist with light utility equipment such as dump trucks, sweepers, and jackhammers.
- Load and unload construction materials, tools, and supplies at job sites.
- Support crews in repairing sidewalks, curbs, and traffic control devices.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Qualifications
- No prior construction or public works experience is required; we provide on-the-job training.
- Ability to perform physical labor, including lifting up to 50 lbs repeatedly.
- Willingness to work in various weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and a willingness to learn is a plus.
- Valid driver’s license is preferred.
