What You Will Do:
As a Public Works Laborer, you will support a wide range of municipal services, including street maintenance, drainage cleaning, and heavy equipment operation. Your role is essential to the daily functionality of our city infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Perform manual labor tasks such as cleaning streets, removing debris, and operating brooms and snow plows.
- Assist in the maintenance and cleaning of storm drains, catch basins, and sewers to prevent flooding.
- Operate heavy equipment such as dump trucks, backhoes, and skid steers under supervision.
- Load and unload construction materials, tools, and supplies at job sites.
- Follow all safety protocols and wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and other crew members to coordinate tasks efficiently.
- Perform minor repairs and maintenance on public property and equipment as directed.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record (CDL preferred but not always required for entry-level training).
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
- Physical ability to perform heavy manual labor, including lifting up to 50 lbs and standing for extended periods.
- Willingness to work in various weather conditions (heat, rain, snow).
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience.
- Basic math and reading skills for safety instructions and measurements.
