Responsibilities
- Maintain and repair municipal infrastructure including sidewalks, streetlights, traffic signals, and drainage systems
- Operate heavy machinery (e.g., backhoes, asphalt rollers) and specialized equipment safely and efficiently
- Respond to emergency service calls during inclement weather and critical events
- Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance on public facilities
- Collaborate with engineering teams to implement infrastructure improvement projects
- Adhere to OSHA safety protocols and municipal work standards
- Document maintenance activities and submit detailed reports
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Valid Illinois Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with air brake endorsement
- Minimum 2 years' experience in construction, maintenance, or related field
- Certification in equipment operation (e.g., flagging, safety training)
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks in various weather conditions
- Basic knowledge of municipal infrastructure systems
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and in team environments
