Responsibilities
- Perform preventative maintenance on city infrastructure including streetlights, traffic signals, and drainage systems
- Operate heavy machinery (backhoes, dump trucks) for construction and repair projects
- Respond to emergency service calls for storm damage and utility disruptions
- Conduct routine inspections of public facilities and document maintenance needs
- Collaborate with engineering teams to implement infrastructure improvement plans
- Ensure compliance with OSHA and municipal safety regulations
- Manage inventory of maintenance supplies and equipment
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; technical certification preferred
- Minimum 2 years of experience in public works or heavy equipment operation
- Valid Texas Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
- OSHA 10-hour construction certification or ability to obtain within 30 days
- Proficiency with diagnostic tools and basic mechanical repair techniques
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and work in extreme weather conditions
- Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail
- Must pass background check and drug screening
