Responsibilities

  • Maintain Infrastructure: Perform routine and emergency maintenance on streets, sidewalks, curbs, gutters, and traffic signals to ensure safety and accessibility for the public.
  • Heavy Equipment Operation: Safely operate and maintain heavy municipal equipment, including backhoes, dump trucks, rollers, and pavement breakers.
  • Snow and Ice Control: Execute snow removal and ice control operations during winter weather events to keep city streets passable and safe.
  • Pothole and Pavement Repair: Assess road conditions and perform patching, resurfacing, and crack sealing to extend the lifespan of city infrastructure.
  • Public Works Support: Assist in the construction and maintenance of drainage systems, catch basins, and flood control measures.
  • Safety Compliance: Adhere to all OSHA safety standards, traffic control procedures, and Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.
  • Asset Management: Complete daily logs, equipment reports, and inventory checks to ensure efficient resource management.

Qualifications

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in public works, construction, or heavy equipment operation is preferred.
  • Licensure: Valid California Class B Driver’s License with a satisfactory driving record is mandatory. A Class A License is a plus.
