Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on city facilities, roads, and drainage systems
- Operate heavy machinery including excavators, loaders, and street sweepers
- Conduct infrastructure inspections and prepare detailed technical reports
- Respond to emergency service calls during weather events and public safety incidents
- Collaborate with engineering teams on infrastructure improvement projects
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and municipal safety protocols
- Maintain accurate maintenance logs and inventory of equipment/supplies
- Provide mentorship to junior technicians on proper equipment operation
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required; technical certification preferred
- 3+ years experience in public works, construction, or facility maintenance
- Valid Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with airbrake endorsement
- OSHA 10-hour construction safety certification
- Proficiency in operating heavy machinery and power tools
- Ability to work in extreme weather conditions and physically demanding environments
- Basic understanding of blueprints and technical schematics
- Pass background check and drug screening per municipal policy
