Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance, repair, and construction on city streets, bridges, sidewalks, and parks.
- Operate and maintain heavy equipment such as dump trucks, backhoes, and pavement breakers safely and efficiently.
- Inspect municipal infrastructure to identify necessary repairs, wear and tear, or upgrades.
- Respond promptly to emergency repair requests and weather-related incidents to minimize city disruption.
- Adhere to all OSHA safety regulations, DOT standards, and municipal guidelines during all operations.
- Collaborate with engineering, planning, and other city departments to support large-scale infrastructure projects.
- Maintain a clean and organized work vehicle and work area.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Valid Class C Texas Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record.
- Minimum of 2 years of verifiable experience in public works, construction, or facilities maintenance.
- Ability to obtain a Commercial Driverβs License (CDL) within 6 months of hire is a plus.
- Physical ability to lift 50+ lbs, work in various weather conditions, and stand for extended periods.
- Familiarity with heavy machinery operation and general construction practices.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
