Responsibilities
- Infrastructure Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance and repair on city streets, sidewalks, and bridges to ensure safety and accessibility.
- Equipment Operation: Safely operate heavy machinery and tools, including dump trucks, backhoes, jackhammers, and street sweepers.
- Utility Maintenance: Assist in the installation, repair, and inspection of water, sewer, and storm drain systems.
- Right-of-Way Maintenance: Maintain parkways, medians, and traffic control devices (signs, guardrails).
- Emergency Response: Respond to weather-related emergencies, including snow and ice removal during winter months.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to all OSHA safety standards and city regulations while performing duties.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Experience: Minimum of 1 year of experience in public works, construction, landscaping, or related field preferred.
- Driver's License: Valid New Mexico Class C Driver’s License required. CDL is a plus.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to perform physical labor in various weather conditions, including lifting up to 50 lbs and standing for extended periods.
- Communication: Basic ability to read and understand safety manuals and written instructions.
- Background Check: Must pass a post-offer medical examination and background check.
