Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance and repair of city streets, sidewalks, and drainage systems.
- Operate and maintain heavy machinery, including dump trucks, backhoes, and street sweepers.
- Assist in snow and ice removal operations during inclement weather to ensure public safety.
- Inspect public infrastructure for damage or hazards and report findings to supervisors.
- Perform general labor tasks such as loading/unloading materials and assisting with construction projects.
- Maintain a clean and organized work vehicle and equipment.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Valid Virginia Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is highly preferred.
- Previous experience in public works, construction, or general maintenance is a plus but not mandatory.
- Ability to perform physical labor in various weather conditions, including heat, rain, and snow.
- Basic knowledge of hand and power tools is required.
- Must possess a valid State of Virginia identification.
