Responsibilities
- Perform a variety of general labor tasks including sweeping, cleaning, and maintaining public spaces and streets.
- Operate and maintain light to medium-duty equipment such as pressure washers, jackhammers, and snow removal vehicles.
- Assist with the collection and disposal of trash, recycling, and yard waste along designated routes.
- Conduct routine inspections of municipal infrastructure and report maintenance needs to supervisors.
- Ensure compliance with all city safety regulations, OSHA standards, and departmental policies.
- Collaborate with a diverse team of professionals to complete projects on time and within budget.
- Respond to emergency and non-emergency service calls as assigned during peak seasons (e.g., snow removal).
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Valid North Carolina Driver’s License with a clean driving record.
- Physical stamina to perform manual labor in various weather conditions for extended periods.
- Previous experience in public works, construction, landscaping, or sanitation is preferred but not required.
- Ability to read and understand basic instructions and safety guidelines.
- Strong work ethic and a commitment to serving the community.
- Basic knowledge of operating power tools and heavy machinery is a plus.
