Job Summary
The Public Works Maintenance Worker is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and improvement of the City’s public infrastructure. This includes roads, traffic signals, sidewalks, and drainage systems. You will work outdoors in various weather conditions and utilize heavy machinery to complete assigned tasks efficiently and safely.
Responsibilities
- Perform daily inspections of streets, sidewalks, and traffic control devices to identify maintenance needs.
- Operate and maintain heavy construction equipment, including graders, rollers, and backhoes.
- Execute road repairs, including pothole filling, crack sealing, and asphalt resurfacing.
- Respond promptly to emergency maintenance requests and citizen inquiries regarding public infrastructure.
- Ensure all work is performed in strict adherence to OSHA safety standards and City policies.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to coordinate large-scale infrastructure projects.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required.
- Valid California Class C Driver’s License and a satisfactory driving record.
- Previous experience in public works, construction, or general maintenance is highly preferred.
- Ability to pass a post-offer medical examination and drug screen.
- Physical stamina to perform manual labor in various weather conditions.
- Basic knowledge of hand and power tools.
