Responsibilities
- Perform general maintenance and repair of streets, sidewalks, storm drains, and drainage systems.
- Operate and maintain heavy machinery, including dump trucks, front-end loaders, and asphalt paving equipment.
- Assist in the collection and disposal of refuse, recycling, and bulk trash during scheduled routes.
- Install, repair, and maintain traffic control devices, street signs, and pavement markings.
- Respond to emergency situations, including snow and ice removal operations during winter storms.
- Perform landscape maintenance tasks, including mowing, edging, trimming, and planting in public parks.
- Ensure strict adherence to all safety regulations, OSHA standards, and City policies while on-site.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Valid Virginia Class C Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record is mandatory.
- Physical ability to perform heavy lifting (up to 50 lbs), standing for extended periods, and working in various weather conditions.
- Basic knowledge of construction tools, landscaping equipment, and safety protocols is preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical manuals, and safety signs.
- Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on quality workmanship.
- Must pass a post-offer physical examination and background check.
