Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain heavy municipal equipment, including dump trucks, grader rollers, and snowplows.
- Perform routine and emergency maintenance on city streets, sidewalks, and storm drains to ensure safety and accessibility.
- Assist in the repair and maintenance of public infrastructure, including water and sewer lines.
- Conduct daily inspections of work areas to ensure strict compliance with OSHA safety regulations and city policies.
- Respond to emergency requests for service, such as street repair or debris removal, in a timely and professional manner.
- Collaborate with other city departments to ensure cohesive community maintenance strategies and projects.
- Keep accurate records of work performed, equipment usage, and materials consumed.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required.
- Valid Kansas Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is strongly preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in public works, construction, or general maintenance is preferred.
- Ability to lift and carry heavy objects weighing up to 50 pounds repeatedly throughout the day.
- Physical stamina to perform outdoor work in all weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold.
- Basic knowledge of hand and power tools is required.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, maps, and technical schematics.
